Investments in the Renewables Fund help finance solar projects in the Global South. If the solar projects fail to perform as expected, we may be unable to make full repayments to investors.

  • If the solar organizations we partner with encounter unexpected problems with the solar facilities they build, there is a risk of your repayments being affected.
  • If the solar developers we choose to work with become delinquent on payments to Renewables.org for any reason, we may be unable to fully repay users.
  • Renewables.org currently only works with one solar developer, Distributed Energy.
  • Renewables.org could become insolvent and creditors could attempt to collect user funds.

Renewables.org is working to mitigate these risks:

  • Renewables.org does not take on debt liabilities outside of its obligation to investors.
  • Renewables.org is working to additionally shield investor funds from operating liabilities.
  • To date, all of our developers have made all payments on time, and the Renewables Fund has made all repayments in full and on schedule.
  • Renewables.org is vetting additional solar development companies to compliment Distributed Energy, and will actively seek to onboard a new developer once we raise $100,000 or more per month in new investor funds.
  • Distributed Energy invests in solar projects across multiple markets by lending money to solar developers. This diversification protects your investment from the underperformance of any individual facility or market.
