Can I deduct my purchases on Renewables.org as a donation?
Backing projects on Renewables.org is not a donation, it’s a 0% interest loan that’s repaid over five years – so no charitable tax deduction can be claimed.

Once you back a project on Renewables.org, you earn repayments monthly, over five years. Since cash can be withdrawn or redeployed, this does not constitute a charitable donation and therefore is not tax deductible.

Renewables.org does offer a tax deductible Donor Edition which allows tax deductible project backing for Global South solar projects, distributions from Donor Advised Funds, and employee donation matching programs.
